2 New Restaurants Coming To Downtown Plymouth Under One Roof

The new restaurants will open in the historic Markham Place building between the downtown and Old Village neighborhoods.​

PLYMOUTH, MI — Two new restaurants are opening this month in downtown Plymouth.

Sidecar Restaurant Group, based in Birmingham, is opening a new Sidecar Slider Bar and Shift Kitchen and Cocktails sometime this month at 340 N. Main Street, in the historic Markham Place building between the downtown and Old Village neighborhoods.

Although both restaurants will be under one roof and share the same kitchen, they will be in separate spaces. The new dining spots will serve up to 165 guests. There will also be an expansive four-season room seating up to 40 guests built onto the existing building,

"Our goal has always been to create a destination that offers a unique dining and drinking experience, and become known and loved for our vibrant atmosphere and fun approach to food and drinks," Sidecar Restaurant Group partners Steven Simon and Scot Pelc said. "We are thrilled to be opening our newest location in this phenomenal location in the historic Markham Building and we look forward to becoming a part of the Plymouth community."

Sidecar Slider Bar will feature a family-friendly and sports-oriented atmosphere with more than a dozen gourmet sliders. There will also be coconut shrimp, smoked wings and loaded tots, as well as a wide selection of salads and gourmet hot dogs, according to the group.

At the bar, guests can expect classic and specialty cocktails, as well as an extensive selection of local and regional craft beers, including one of the largest collections of whiskeys and bourbons offered in metro Detroit, according to the group.

Shift Kitchen and Cocktails is an elevated restaurant and lounge catering to the 21-and-over crowd. It features unique and approachable cocktails, along with a carefully curated wine list and an expansive portfolio of top-shelf spirits, according to the group.

The menu at Shift offers guests upscale small plates and shareable dishes, such as seared scallops, lamb lollipops, Ahi tuna tartar and lobster tacos. Shift will also host musicians most nights, bringing a live local entertainment option to the area, according to the group.

Sidecar Slider Bar will be open seven days a week, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The restaurant will serve lunch, happy hour, dinner and late-night dining. A brunch service will be offered on the weekends.

Shift Kitchen and Cocktails will be open Tuesday through Sunday at 4:00 p.m. for happy hour, dinner and late-night dining.

The Plymouth location will be the fifth Sidecar Slider Bar, with locations in Birmingham, Farmington, Lansing, and Brighton. This will make the second for Shift Kitchen & Cocktails, along with the location in Birmingham.
