3 Suspects Charged in Armed Robbery at Verizon Store in Canton

Three suspects were charged earlier today in connection with an armed robbery Monday at a Verizon store in Canton.

The robbery occurred on Ford Road west of Morton Taylor Road and prompted the lockdown of four adjacent elementary schools.

Eric James-Lee Wilkins, 18, from Inkster; Antonio Jerome Porter, 18, from Inkster and Dantez Lamar Boykin-Johnson, 18, from Westland were each arraigned Thursday morning on seven charges:

• Armed robbery, a felony punishable by life or any number of years
• Breaking and entering a building with intent, a 10-year felony
• First-degree retail fraud, a five-year felony
• Receiving and concealing more $1,000 or more in stolen property, a five-year felony
• Discharge of firearms in or at a building, a four-year felony
• Committing a felony while in possession of a firearm, a two-year felony
• Breaking and entering, illegal entry without owner's permission, a 90-day misdemeanor

The arraignment, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was moved to Thursday because of inclement weather. 

35th District Court Judge Michael J. Gerou set each defendant’s bond at $1 million (no 10 percent). Their preliminary exam is scheduled on March 8 at 35th District Court in Plymouth.
