5 Things To Do This Weekend In Plymouth-Canton
Weekend calendar activities include the tree lighting in Plymouth and performances by the Berlin Philharmonic.

PLYMOUTH-CANTON, MI — TGIF Plymouth-Canton! Here are a few weekend activities in the Metro Detroit area to check out.
1. Grab your mittens and head to the Boulevard Holiday Tree Lighting. The Salvation Army Band will be jamming at the lighting of the trees and it's also the kick-off of the Red kettle Campaign. Bonus: There will be hot chocolate. Festivities are Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. Location: Downtown on Main Street between Ann Arbor Trail and Pennima.
2. Enjoy music from the Berlin Philharmonic. They're in town from Germany this weekend, and will be performing at the Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. Click here for tickets.

3. In the mood for some Detroit history? Hit up a screening of the documentary "Made In the Motor City" by filmmaker Bill Kubota on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Detroit Historical Museum at 3 p.m. For an extra dose of Detroit, check out the author meet and greet before the show (12 p.m. - 3 p.m.) with writers who have penned books about Detroit made-products.
4. Take your holiday craft game to the next level at Home Depot's free DIY Holiday Centerpiece workshop. Learn how to use a circular saw, brad nailer and tools of the trade to create a holly jolly centerpiece. Sunday, Nov. 13 from 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m at Home Depot (47725 Five Mile Rd., Plymouth). 5. Want to add some awesome to your weekend? The Detroit Institute of Arts hosts the Detroit Institute of Awesome on the weekends for kiddos and adults to have museum family fun. This weekend's awesome agenda includes an artist demonstration of ribbon scarf weaving with Michael Daitch.
