Belleville Woman Cited for Reckless Driving After Traveling Wrong Way on I-275
Police: the woman told a firefighter she was suicidal and hearing voices during an examination.

A 42-year-old Belleville woman was cited for reckless driving on June 12 after driving the wrong way down I-275 South near Ford Road around 2 a.m., according to a police report.
Police received a call from another driver reporting the incident. The driver stayed on the phone with dispatch and reported the woman had turned her car around and was traveling the correct way, following the caller, the report said.
The woman appeared to be distraught and disoriented after police pulled her over, the report said.
She told police that she had a fight with her husband and must have been confused when getting on the highway, the report said. She also told police she had a CPL and that there was a pistol under the driver's seat of her car, according to the report
Police issued a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer, both of which came back negative for drinking and driving. Police requested that the Canton Fire Department evaluate the woman when they arrived, the report said.
The woman told a firefighter that she was suicidal and was hearing voices in her head during her examination, according to the report.
The woman was transported to Oakwood Annapolis Hospital where firefighters petitioned for a mental evaluation, according to the report.
Police confiscated the woman's Sig Sauer P238 semi-automatic handgun for safekeeping, the report said.
