Canton Police Arrest Man on Charges of Heroin Possession

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

arrested a man Aug. 23 at 10 p.m. near Michigan Avenue and I-275 on charges of heroin possession, according to a police report. 

The man was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry with a malfunctioning tail light when it was stopped by police, the report said. 

A substance resembling heroin was found on folded pieces of paper on a child seat in the back of the car and on the side of the front passenger seat, according to the report. Both sets of the substance were tested at the Canton Police Department and tested positive as heroin, the report stated.

Shoplifting reported at Walmart

Canton Township Police responded Aug. 27 at 11:21 a.m. to a report of a man attempting to shoplift from , 45555 Michigan Ave., according to a police report.

Employees told police the man was attempting to take a computer desk and two packages of Huggies diapers out of the store, without paying. According to the report, after the man was approached by a Walmart employee while the items were in his cart, the man pushed the cart toward the parking lot and ran to a red van with a white door. The man backed the van into the cart with the items, which were later recovered at the store.

Police located the man driving the red van with a white door. The man awaits a Sept. 12 hearing at the in Plymouth.
