Canton Police Conduct Undercover Alcohol Sales Check
A minor acted as a decoy and tried buying alcohol at Canton businesses.

CANTON, MI — The Canton Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit conducted undercover alcohol sales checks in October, according to a news release. In the operation, a volunteer decoy minor tried buying alcohol at eight Canton businesses.
The results? Three businesses sold to the minor and five refused. And those that sell alcohol to a minor face steep repercussions. Canton Police say they have a “zero tolerance” enforcement strategy when it comes to alcohol sale violations. Alcohol sales to under age persons as the result of an undercover operation result in a civil infraction ticket being issued to the server or salesperson with a fine of not more than $100.00. And the establishment is cited for a Liquor Control Commission (LCC) violation, resulting in an administrative hearing with the LCC.
