Chicken Guy! Closes Only Metro Detroit Location After Just 1 Year
Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri closed his only Chicken Guy! restaurant in the metro Detroit area Sunday, according to restaurant officials.
LIVONIA, MI — Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri closed his only Chicken Guy! restaurant in the metro Detroit area Sunday, according to restaurant officials.
The Livonia restaurant, located at 30130 Plymouth Road, was the first of what was said to be 20 Michigan locations. The restaurant opened just over a year ago and was one of just 17 across the country.
"We are incredibly grateful for the patronage we have received from our loyal customers and the local community, and for our team members and partners who have supported us through this journey. We are dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition for our team members and have offered opportunities within our other businesses," read a statement from officials.

Restaurant officials did not exactly say why the restaurant closed, but the high number of chicken restaurants in the area, including a Chick-fil-A and a Lee's Famous Recipe, could have played a role.
The restaurant is known for its signature sandwiches and chicken tender combos with 22 different types of sauces to choose from, including classics such as Bourbon Brown Sugar BBQ and Wasabi Honey.

The Livonia restaurant's closing leaves only one Chicken Guy! restaurant open in Michigan. That restaurant is located inside the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant.
