Child Dead; Mother, Sister Hurt In Hit-And-Crash After Fireworks Show In Metro Detroit: Police

LIVONIA, MI — A 3-year-old boy is dead and his 3-year-old sister and mother were injured in a hit-and-run crash in Livonia on Sunday night, according to police.

The crash happened at 10:46 p.m. on Merriman Road at Lyndon Street, according to police.

Police said a 28-year-old Detroit woman was walking her 3-year-old twin son and daughter across the intersection when they were struck by a car that never stopped.

The traffic signals were flashing red for Lyndon and yellow for Merriman at the time, according to police.

Police said witnesses at the scene removed the injured children from the roadway. The children were taken to a nearby hospital where the 3-year-old boy died, according to police.

The 3-year-old girl was in critical condition, according to police.
