Chinese Spring Festival On Tap In Canton's The Village Theater This Saturday
A variety of traditional Chinese folk and classical dances will be shared in Canton.

CANTON, MI — Celebrating a tradition that is thousands of years old, the Canton Commission for Culture, Arts and Heritage’s Multicultural Committee will host the 2017 Chinese Spring Festival at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill this Saturday on starting at 7 p.m.
Joining the festivities providing main stage entertainment are choral performances by: the Michigan Chinese Choir, the PCCLC Choir, Michigan Chinese Art Troupe, and the Sunshine Children’s Choir. Duets and small group performances by Yangtze Melody Group and the Heart Melody Group, and the Pop Music of the Desert Island Band are among other attractions.
The event will include Chinese Yo-Yo, and a traditional Chinese Instrument performances featuring the ‘Hulisi’ by Shihui Group and Pipa soloist Angela Bolon. Special guest performance will be done by Ms. Shuping Ma, a notable Opera singer in China and throughout the U.S. Shuping Ma is a graduate of Sichuan Music College in China and was a vocal professor at Xinhai Music College in Guangzhou.
The art of traditional Chinese folk and classical dances will be shared by Little Angels, Shihui Dance Group, Michigan New Century Chinese School, Ann Arbor Jade Dance School, the Ann Hua Waist Drum Team, Ann Arbor Senior Dance Troupe, Canton Qi Pao Dance Group, Ciwawa Dance China Dolls, Anna Ballet & Dance, New Century Adults, Canton Summit Team, and Ann Hua Chinese Dance Group.
Event-goers can also enjoy a free punch and cookie reception starting at 6 p.m. Tickets to this special Chinese celebration are just $5 per person. Tickets are required for children held on laps, too.

Tickets can be purchased, and printed at home or held in will call, anytime from our website www.cantonvillagetheater.org at no extra charge. The box office is open between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. weekdays. Tickets can also be ordered over the phone by calling 734/394-5300 x3, with a Visa or MasterCard weekdays between the hours of 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. If tickets are still available, they can also be purchased one hour prior to program time.
