East Middle School 1 Of Just 8 In Michigan To Earn 'School To Watch' Honor

East Middle School will be honored at the state and national levels as a 'School to Watch.' The recognition culminates a two-year process.

PLYMOUTH— Plymouth’s East Middle School has been honored nationally as a “School to Watch.”

The school, which sits on Lilley Road between Ann Arbor Road and Ann Arbor Trail, will be recognized in Swartz Creek on March 10 at the Michigan Association for Middle Level Educators conference and again in June at the National Schools to Watch conference in Washington D.C.

East is one of only eight schools in Michigan to earn the recognition, which was given by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform. The National Forum is an alliance of more than 60 educators, researchers, and officers of national associations and foundations dedicated to improving schools across the country.

To receive the honor, East completed a two-year process during which staff reviewed data, rated themselves on the national rubric, and hosted two site reviews. Nationally, 400 schools earned the honor.
