Eat Pizza At Tony Sacco's To Help Plymouth Community United Way Raise Funds

20 percent of patrons' tabs will go to supporting the United Way, which in turn supports numerous local area charities.

PLYMOUTH, MI —If pizza isn’t on your lunch or dinner menu for Wednesday, perhaps it should be. By grabbing a fresh pie, patrons of Tony Sacco’s can help pay for a variety of worthwhile causes via the Plymouth Community United Way.

The Canton restaurant is hosting the “Dimes to Donate” fundraising event from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday. A total of 20 percent of patrons’ bills will be donated and ultimately help fund programming for Angela Hospice, the Salvation Army and senior programs, among others.

“It will help us be able to do more in the community,” said Plymouth Community United Way Special Events Associate Randi Williams. “Most people have to eat, so why not come out and spend some quality time with family and friends and help support the community? We think it’s a win-win for everyone.”

The Plymouth organization has been around for more than seven decades with a mission of meeting people’s basic needs through support of food pantries and providing emergency assistance. It also connects families to resources to promote greater independence and also supports education for children.

“Any initiative we do helps support those goals,” Williams said.

It’s not the first time United Way has partnered with the Canton Tony Sacco’s. Williams said “Hats for the Homeless” and other Dimes to Donate events have been held at the restaurant, which is located at 1663 N. Canton Center Road.

Food and drink will not be the only way patrons can help. A painting event, hosted by Just Sayin’ Hand Painted Signs, will be held from 7 - 9 p.m. in the restaurant. Williams said $5 from each sign painted will also go to the Plymouth Community United Way.

Registration is required to paint. Those wishing to participate can sign up at the United Way’s website or call the Plymouth Organization at 734-453-6879 x5.
