Food, Family Fun Highlight Plymouth Fall Festival

From the pancake breakfast to the Rotary Club's traditional chicken dinner, nobody leaves Plymouth's Fall Festival hungry.

PLYMOUTH, MI — Good food. Good family fun. Those are the bedrocks the Plymouth Fall Festival has been built on and will continue starting Friday when the 62nd annual event kicks off at Kellogg Park.

Carnival rides, games of chance, a car show and, of course, the chicken barbeque dinner will once again highlight the Fall Festival. The event started as a community picnic at what is now known as Fairground Park at the corner of Wing and Harding streets. About 500 people attended the first Fall Festival in 1956, according to Sam Hudson’s book, “The Story of Plymouth, Michigan: A Midwest Microcosm.”

Friday: Plymouth Taste Fes, 6-8 p.m. at Station 885 on Starkweather Street in Old Village. Among the restaurants participating are Bahama Breeze, Beyond Borders-Latin Street Food, b.d.’s Mongolian Grill, Cupcake Station, Detroit Jamz/Bear Jam Co, Edible Arrangements, Grand Traverse Pie Company, and Happy’s Pizza & Ribs.

Saturday: Annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, 7 AM to Noon, located under the Gathering across from Kellogg Park and next to the Penn Theatre. $6.00 in advance – $7.00 at the door Children 5 & under free.

Saturday: AM Rotary Spaghetti Dinner, 4 pm to 8 pm, parking lot behind E.G. Nick’s off Harvey Street.

Sunday: The Rotary Club Annual Chicken BBQ,11:00 AM to 5:00 PM or until sold out.

As for the carnival, ride wristbands will be available on Sunday for $25. Tickets are four for $5.00 and rides are 2-4 tickets each. Rides open at 3 pm on Friday, 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Other events include:

  • Antique and Classic Cars - Saturday and Sunday
  • Craft Show - Friday noon to dusk, Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to dusk.
  • Pet Show - Saturday 9 a.m. Dogs and cats.

The Fall Festival will run Friday from noon to 11 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
