'Kimchi' Replaces Longtime Canton Restaurant
The Korean-style restaurant opened about two months ago in the former Thai Bistro location on Ford Road west of Canton Center.
CANTON, MI — For years, Thai Bistro was practically an institution in Canton, sitting near the intersection of Ford and Canton Center roads. But the restaurant closed and, in it’s place, “Kimchi” has taken over.
The Korean restaurant opened about two months ago at 45620 Ford Road. Since then, it has received mostly favorable marks on the review website Yelp. In fact, Yelpers give Kimchi an overall ranking of four out of five stars.
A multitude of entree choices awaits dinners. From Khan Pung Shrimp, beef teriyaki and noodle dishes like Pad Thai to Korean soups and appetizers like seafood pancakes, there’s something for pretty much every palate.

“This is the real deal! Finally a good, new Korean restaurant in Canton,” wrote Monica L of Northville in an Aug. 11 review. She gave the restaurant five stars. “So far we've had the Beef Bibimbap, Tofu Bibimbap, Bul go gi (popular Korean beef dish), and Khan Ping Gi (sweet & spicy chicken). If you want real Korean, this is the place to be. Each meal comes with a variety of 6 vegetable based sides (my favorite was the sesame daikon and spicy cucumber).”

Chris B. of Ann Arbor Township gave Kimchi a four-star review on July 8.
“We had the Galbi-tang and Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles),” he wrote. “Both were decent quality, though I'd say the noodles were better than the Galbi-tang. I can't really think of any good Korean restaurants in Canton, and so as it is, I think it's as good as you're going to get. Having come from Ann Arbor, I'd say it's comparable in quality to other restaurants in AA, so all-in-all we left as happy customers.”
Nicole M of Canton had a much different take on Kimchi. She gave the restaurant just one star in a July 21 review.
“Disappointed,” Nicole M wrote. “Thai bistro was a much better restaurant. Servers aren't very friendly. Food is very plain.”
