Minutes after the game, the FOX Sports’ broadcast caught a Wolverines player trying to plant a team flag on the Ohio State logo on the field inside the stadium. It was not clear which Wolverines player was trying to plant the flag, but video showed several Buckeyes players rushing the field.

Several players began throwing punches and shoving each other, as officers used pepper spray to break up the melee. One officer was injured in the fight and taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for unspecified injuries, according to a police union official.

The Buckeyes (10-2, 7-2) were ranked No. 2 in the nation coming into the game and were looking for a spot in the Big Ten Conference Championship Game. But the Wolverines (7-5, 5-4) spoiled that with a 13-10 upset win in Ohio Stadium.

The Penn State Nittany Lions will now play the Oregon Ducks in the championship game. The Buckeyes, however, will still likely make the College Football Playoff.

With the game tied 10-10 late in the fourth quarter, Wolverine Kalel Mullings broke away for a 27-yard run, setting up the Wolverines at Ohio State’s 17-yard line with two minutes remaining. The drive stalled at the 3-yard line, and Dominic Zvada kicked a 21-yard field goal with 45 seconds left.

The Buckeyes got the ball back, but failed to move it, as the drive ended with Will Howard throwing an incomplete pass on fourth down with just seconds remaining.

The win is the Wolverines fourth straight win over their bitter rival.

Michigan now holds the all-time record at 62-51-6.
