PLYMOUTH, MI — A new Chinese restaurant known for its authentic flavors has opened in Plymouth.
Qilin Dumplings opened roughly two weeks ago inside the Michigan Life Science and Innovation Center, which is located along Commerce Center Drive just off Beck Road and Michigan 14.
Patch spoke with Qilin Dumplings owner, Hongli, who said her restaurant is best known for its traditional Chinese handmade dumplings.

"So this is not a factory thing, not a supplier thing. We just make dumplings from the dough and then use the hand rolling the skin and fold the dumplings and then make it every day, fresh every day," Hongli said.
Hongli, who grew up making dumplings with her mom and sisters in her hometown of Changchun, which is located in northeast China, also said she makes the fillings for the dumplings.

She said the restaurant offers six types of fillings, including the chicken with delight, beef and onion, Berkshire pork, sauerkraut with pork, chicken with mushroom and the veggie, which is filled with zucchini and eggs.
The restaurant also offers other dishes such as lotus chicken, crab ragu and noodle beef soup, which Hongli says is a customer favorite.
The meals can be accompanied by appetizers (also known as cold dishes) and soups that are inspired by Hongli's hometown cooking. Popular types include a spicy cucumber salad, hot sour soup, and beef and radish soup.
Hongli and her husband said they enjoy the Plymouth community.
"We love downtown Plymouth and we always go to the Ice Festival and the spring day when they have all the kind of big market downtown," the couple said. "We just love hanging out there."
Qilin Dumplings is open during lunch hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Michigan Life Science and Innovation Center offers a spacious cafeteria as well as an outdoor patio. The restaurant is also available on Uber Eats and will come to Doordash soon.
