Frog Pond Report ~ Sunday, October 10,  2021

Dear Eriksson Families,

Find out what's happening in Plymouth-Cantonfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

I am happy to be retuning to the Frog Pond!  Though my time away supporting my family was incredibly helpful, I missed being here with all of the students, the wonderful teachers, and supportive parents.  I look forward to reconnecting with all of you!

I want to extend a very public thank you to Mrs. Wilder who did a terrific job filling in for me while I was gone.  During a tricky time when some of our new routines had not fully been established because of construction, and we continue to navigate other challenges all schools are facing while providing  instruction during a pandemic, Mrs. Wilder remained a consistent support for our school community.  I also appreciate Mr. Burt returning to Eriksson to support Mrs. Wilder and the students, staff, and parents of our community.  Though I know Mr. Burt would focus on how much he enjoyed being around the daily energy of children again, I know our school community benefited from his presence.

One reminder I was asked by Mrs. Wilder and Mr. Burt to make this week is about the use of the handicapped parking spaces at the front of the school.  Though I recognize that finding parking during arrival and dismissal can be a struggle, it is important for our community to reserve all handicap parking spaces for those with handicap tags.  Please be aware that we have several parents, grandparents, and students with physical needs.  Please respect our community members by leaving the handicap parking spaces for them.

The following is our Schedule of Events for the Week of October 11, 2021

Thursday, October 14, 2021

PTO General Membership Meeting for 6:00-7:00 PM on Zoom.  I will email the  link to this meeting on Thursday morning.  During this meeting, our PTO leadership will provide updates on the candy sales and their plans for Trunk or Treat which is scheduled for Friday, October 22, from  6:00-7:30 PM. Families will be asked to help by donating a bag of candy for this event.  Please look for information on how to donate candy and how to volunteer to be a trunk this week.

In Other News:

P-CCS will once again offer the take-home device program for students.  Our 2021-22 take home program is open to Y5 through 5th graders whose families make them eligible. Only students on quarantine or those whose parents make them eligible through our checkout process in MISTAR, may take devices outside of school.

To be eligible for the take home program, a student's family needs to have:

  1. identified their child as a participant by appropriately selecting from the drop down choices on the student's Chromebook/iPad Take-Home Participation form found in MiSTAR Parent Connection

  2. met the liability requirement through insurance or deposit

  3. resolved all outstanding technology debt

Parents must complete the agreement and pay the liability fee by Monday, October 25, 2021.  Devices will be distributed the following week.  Note that ONLY those families who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch will be able to waive the liability fee this year.

The steps to complete the user agreement are:

  1. Log onto MiStar and log in to your Parent Connects account.

  2. Click My Information in the top area

  3. Then "Register Now" to the right on the line with your student's name on it.

  4. Then select the Chromebook User Agreement found on the left.

  • Please read through the agreement.  If you agree and want to obtain a district Chromebook for take home select the choice "we want to participate" and submit.

  • For more help, view this video.

  • Those who sign up after October 25 will not be able to start the take-home program during round 1.  They would be issued their take home devices during round 2 sometime in January or February of 2022.
