Tuesday, November 2:

NO SCHOOL for students in honor of Election Day.  This is a workday for staff, as we will be participating in professional development.  Enjoy the day off!

Thursday, November 4:

The start of Diwali.  May Lakshmi bless you all with a prosperous new year!

SCHOOL NEWS:

The Week of November 15 is for Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Please keep in mind that  Wednesday, November 17 & Thursday, November 18 are scheduled HALF DAYS of SCHOOL to support the scheduling of Conferences.  Students will be dismissed at 12:10 PM on these two days.   Please look for conference sign-up opportunities to be sent by your child's teacher soon.  The partnership between home and school is critical to student success.

This is a reminder that students are welcome to enjoy some of their Halloween candy during lunch, but please limit candy to 1 large piece or 2 small pieces each day.

Speaking of candy, please be sure to return all PTO candy sales money as soon as possible.  Our PTO Leadership expressed concern last Friday that we still have $3000 in candy money still outstanding.  Thank you for turning in your money and supporting our school with this great event.

DISTRICT NEWS:

Plymouth-Canton Community Schools is hosting an in-person job fair for open positions. The event will take place on Thursday, November 4 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Canton Public Library. All are invited to attend! Open positions P-CCS is looking to fill include:

  • Bus Drivers

  • Custodians

  • Substitute Teachers (60 college credits needed)

  • Substitute Paraprofessionals

  • *This program is neither sponsored, co-sponsored nor endorsed by the Canton Public Library.  See the attached Job Fair Flyer

An update to families of the bus routes that have had to be suspended due to the national driver shortage that has impacted us locally at P-CCS is available by clicking here.  Currently, Durham School Services has approximately 90 school bus drivers to cover 108 bus routes, where a route typically covers a high school, a middle school and an elementary school.  Therefore, Durham is short 18 bus drivers as of October 26.  There are four casual (part-time) drivers and one office staff member that are continuing to drive buses to help with this difficult situation.  All routes have been reviewed, combined and reworked where possible from 116 routes to 108 routes, but there remain 13 general education routes that are uncovered and therefore, temporarily suspended until new bus drivers can be hired, trained and receive their full driving.
