Dear Eriksson Families,

It was to see so many of our community members at our PTO Ice Cream Social last Friday.  Everyone seemed to be enjoying the ice cream, the new playgrounds, and each other’s company.  I appreciate the planning and forethought of our PTO leadership to bring our families together to celebrate the start of the school year in a manner that honors the mitigation strategies in place to reduce the opportunities for spread of COVID-19.  Thank you, PTO!!!

I also want to  thank all of you for your very kind words in response to my email alerting families that I will be stepping away from my daily work responsibilities to support my parents with recent health issues that escalated over the summer.  I plan to return on or before Thursday, October 7.  While I am away, you will be in the very capable hands of Mrs. Wilder.  I am excited that Dr. Jim Burt, former P-CCS and Eriksson Principal, will serve as an additional administrator to support Mrs. Wilder, our students, our parents, and staff in my absence.  Parents should expect weekly communication to continue in the form of all-school emails while I am away.  However, weekly phone calls will be paused until I return.

• Plymouth-Canton Community Schools are hiring.  Are you looking for a fun way to spend a few hours a day feeding the students of our district and make some extra money?  Join our team!  We have immediate permanent and substitute openings at elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. • The USDA has extended the universal free meals through June 30, 2022.  All children can receive breakfast and lunch daily at no charge.  This includes students in the Virtual Academy.  VA families can get more information by clicking on this link:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uIpQ4c837D9w20Gw-iPGSL024LiG_1x5/view?usp=sharing

Although meals are free, it is still important to complete the free and reduced application.  The application supports other funding in areas of education, including discounts for pay-to- play, access for computer WIFI, college application fees and standardized testing fees.

Please note: a new application must be submitted each school year.  If you have questions about the free or reduced meal program or application? Call 734-416-7702.

• Food shortage and supply chain are nationwide issues, and our district cafeterias also may experience unavailable items or last minute replacements.   While we will do our best to ensure consistency, menus are subject to change. We will do our best to notify you if there are any changes. Menus on pccsk12.nutrislice.com may not reflect these changes. If you have a concern, please contact your Cafeteria Manager to verify the menu of the day.

Finally, yesterday, we acknowledged the 20 year anniversary of 9/11.  Many of us remember where we were when these terrible events unfolded, and it is hard for me to believe it’s been 20 years! This weekend, make sure that you hold your children, family and friends tight.  Let them know you love them each and every day.
