Monday, September 6:
NO SCHOOL ~ Happy Labor Day!
Tuesday, September 7:
FIRST DAY of SCHOOL - Student HALF DAY of School
Students enter at 8:50 AM, and they are dismissed at 12:10 PM.
Families are encouraged to watch the arrival and dismissal video emailed to you to get acquainted with our new arrival and dismissal procedures. As you will see, we are still under construction, but the parking lots and parent loop are ready for use. For those picking their children up at dismissal, please have an 8 ½ X 11 piece of paper with the names and grades of your students to show our staff during dismissal as we call them out to your car. We will provide you with a more permanent tag to be used throughout the year during the first week of school.
When student arrive in the morning, they will report to the outside door to their classroom. Please refer to the list of teachers and their outside doors emailed to you today.
With so many students new to Eriksson joining us for the first time, we will have a number of staff members on-site during arrival helping students get to where they need to go. If you need help, look for a staff member wearing a green t-shirt or bright vest. Parents of kindergarten students should remember to put a tag on your child’s backpack with their name, current address, phone number, and bus number or daycare van for the first week of school. Please be aware that our kindergarteners will come home the first week of school with a small colored mark on their hand indicating their correct bus color. This process helps to ensure students get to their appropriate bus as they learn and get used to dismissal procedures. Please contact me or your child’s teacher if you have a concern about us using a marker on your child’s hand. For those first-time kindergarten parents, CONGRATULATIONS! What an important milestone for you and your young one. Remember that your children will take their cues from you. Celebrate with them, and show them how confident you are through your words and actions. And when they enter the room, let them do so on their own. My many years of experience have shown me that when parents do this, it does wonders to minimize crying children. Not so much for crying moms & dads though.
Wednesday, September 8 ~ Student FULL DAY of School for Students in Grades 1-5.
Students enter at 8:50 AM, and they will be dismissed at 4:01 PM. Kindergartners and Y5 students continue with their half-day schedule until Friday, September 10. In order to be on time for school, we ask students to arrive on school grounds between 8:35 and 8:45 as much as possible. Please remember the drop off loop is meant ONLY for dropping off or picking up students, and that parents need to stay with their car when using this area. If a parent wishes to walk their child to their classroom door, please be sure to park in a parking lot in the front or back of the building and walk with your child to where they line up. I thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Friday, September 10 ~Our PTO is kicking off the new year with an Ice Cream Social from 5-7 PM. This event will be held outdoors on the front parking lot. Cookies and Cream Detroit mobile ice cream truck will be on site to offer Michigan made ice cream choices in the form of sundaes, cookie sandwiches, or donut sandwiches. The cost is $5-$8 depending on your choice of item. Cash, Credit Cards, Cash App and Venmo will all be accepted.
District News:
COVID-19 Mitigation Plan (Start of School)
On Friday, August 27, the Wayne County Public Health Division released an Emergency Order for Control of Pandemic for all schools across Wayne County. Effective Immediately, all staff, students and visitors, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, are required by law to wear masks in Wayne County Schools. This order will remain in effect until community transmission within Wayne County is categorized as “Moderate” by the CDC for at least 14 consecutive days. Our P-CCS Mitigation Plans for 2021-22 have been updated to include the current masking requirements as outlined in the WCHD order.
Please be assured that we will continue to monitor local transmission data and trends and stay in close contact with the experts at the Wayne County Health Department. And no matter what direction the pandemic takes in the coming weeks and months, we remain ready to pivot in order to keep everyone safe. Our goal is to provide in-person learning for the entire year and we believe this new mask mandate from the county gives us our best chance to do just that.

While we will do our best to ensure consistency, menus are subject to change. We will do our best to notify you if there are any changes. Menus on pccsk12.nutrislice.com may not reflect these changes. If you have a concern, please contact your Cafeteria Manager to verify the menu of the day.
