Dear P-CEP Students and Families:
Find out what's happening in Plymouth-Cantonfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
Yesterday we investigated an incident that we were made aware of regarding a student making a threat of violence against another student that was shared on social media. Once we received the information regarding a potential threat, we immediately worked with our security staff and local police department to conduct a thorough investigation, and quickly found the threat not to be credible.
During these early weeks of the school year, we have been made aware of some students using their social media outlets to discuss inappropriate and/or threatening behaviors, and we wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that we take every threat very seriously. If we find that a student has been making threats of violence or speaking inappropriately about such acts that may impact the school environment, students will be held accountable according to the K12 Student Handbook, which may result in suspension and/or expulsion.

Please take a few minutes and talk as a family about this very serious situation. We ask that all students and families understand that the consequences for such behavior are severe and may involve action by local law enforcement as well. It is also important for you to know that resharing and/or reposting threats or inappropriate posts — even if they are not made directly or explicitly to the P-CEP campus — can also result in disciplinary action and/or police involvement.
We always have looked at dealing with student issues as a collaborative team effort, as we are all in this together. We want to thank our students who responsibly bring such incidents to our attention in a timely manner. Parents and students obviously play a key role in this ongoing effort to keep our schools safe, and with that in mind we want to again remind parents and students about the State of Michigan’s OK2SAY Tip Line. It is a 24-hour source designed to empower all members of the community to report safety concerns so that appropriate local personnel can respond. The OK2SAY number is 1-855-565-2729, you can text to 652729, or you can send an email to ok2say@mi.gov.
Student safety and well-being remains the number one priority of Plymouth-Canton Community Schools. Thanks for your support!
