Parking Concerns:
We understand that some families have been parking at the church next door to Pioneer after school to pick up their students. The pastor has contacted us and asked that families do not do that. They have been kind enough to offer the parking lot to us for large events, but each day they are having 50-60 cars in their lot and it is interfering with their employees and families accessing their daycare facility. I know our traffic issues are a concern, but we need to be respectful of our neighbor’s needs.
TikTok Issues:
Our school prides itself on the relationships we have built with our students and their families. In this spirit of cooperation and communication, we are contacting you to make you aware of a concern we have related to information circulating on the social media app Tik-Tok.
As you may know, many of our students use Tik-Tok as a way to share short videos. You may also have heard of ‘Tik-Tok Challenges,’ which have become increasingly popular with users of the app. These challenges encourage people to video themselves engaging in the challenge and post it online.
The latest Tik-Tok Challenge is actually a series of monthly challenges that encourages students to engage in a variety of behaviors on school grounds, many of which are illegal, such as assaulting staff members, vandalizing school property, inappropriately exposing themselves, sexually assaulting peers, engaging in vandalism both inside and outside of school, and stealing.
While we expect that our students will resist the call to participate in any of these behaviors, we ask that you have a conversation with your students to make sure that they do not engage in any behavior that may negatively impact their future in P-CCS.
PCCS Job Fair:
Plymouth-Canton Community Schools is hosting a virtual job fair for many open positions throughout the district. The deadline to register for an interview is Monday, October 18, 2021. Open positions include cafeteria aides and substitute cafeteria aids, cleaning assistant, paraprofessionals, licenced technicians (HVAC and Electrician), art, music and physical education teachers, speech pathologists, school psychologist, school social workers, security offices, high school health and physical education teachers and middle school social studies teachers. For more information, please click here.
NWEA Testing:
All Pioneer students will be participating in NWEA testing on the following dates:
Math: October 5, 6, 7 Reading:October 12, 13, 14
Math testing will take place in students’ math classes and the Reading test will take place in students’ ELA classes. Please try not to schedule appointments for your child on these dates.
Students will need to bring a fully-charged Chromebook or personal laptop/device for testing.
Water Bottles:
We are finding that many students do not have refillable water bottles throughout the day. Since the mouth pieces to our drinking fountains have to remain off, we have installed three water bottle filling stations in the building. Please remind your student to bring a refillable water bottle each day so they can stay hydrated.
