Happy Friday Wildcats!

I hope that you have had a wonderful week.  We have been practicing wildcat kindness by making good choices in the classroom and on the playground.  We have been learning about empathy, and how to try and understand how someone else is feeling.  This is a big concept for our youngest learners but they are beginning to understand how important it is to show empathy towards someone else. Remember that this Saturday is our first PTO sponsored cleanup day (details below). Also, “Dining for Dollars” is a fantastic way to help raise money for our wonderful school.  Sweetwaters Coffee and Tea will be participating the entire day.  If you would like to see some of our staff members, they will be baristas from 8:00am-11:00am! I am sure they would love to serve you your favorite coffee or tea. Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Workman Clean-Up Day:Come join us this Saturday, October 23rd from 9am-11am, to strengthen our Workman community by lending a hand to clean up the grounds. We will be picking up trash, pulling weeds, trimming trees and bushes. Lots of hands make light work! Please bring gloves and any weeding supplies you would find helpful. Garbage and recycling bags will be provided.
  • Join us THIS SATURDAY at Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea (302 N. Canton Center Rd.)for our “Drinking Coffee for Dollars” event! A portion of all in café or mobile app orders (food or drink) throughout the entire day will benefit Workman Elementary! We will have “guest” baristas from Workman helping out all day. Be sure to check what time your favorite barista will be on shift:
    • Mrs. Duran & Mrs. Rushlow: 8am-9am
    • Ms. Allen & Mrs. Cosby: 9am-10am
    • Mrs. Demchinski & Mrs. Robertson: 10am-11am

  • IMPORTANT: There is a MILK CHARGE of 50 cents per milk carton at lunch time for those who bring lunch from home and those who consume more than 1 carton of milk. One carton of milk comes with school lunches, but if your child requests another one, or if your child brings lunch from home and requests a milk carton, then you will receive a charge to their lunch account. Please keep a look out for account statements every weekend. Thank you!
  • Families, we understand if you need to call in and make any last minute transportation changes for your student, but please be sure to call the office BEFORE 3:15pm. Unfortunately, if you call after that time, we may be unable to accommodate you or get the message to your student’s teacher in time. Thank you for your cooperation!

  • Bus driver shortage continues: Durham School Services is short approximately 16 school bus drivers, including 10 general education routes and no substitutes to cover for illness or vacancies. The 10 general education routes are currently temporarily suspended until bus drivers can be hired, vetted and complete the mandatory training process.  Your patience is appreciated and as soon as new bus drivers receive their full credentials, we will continue to revise the routing. CLICK HERE for the official posting on the district website.  All current student transportation information is updated in MiStar.
