Plymouth-Canton High School Students Released Following Lockdown
According to the Canton Police Department, the lockdown was initiated after a student informed security that he saw someone with a gun.
CANTON, MI — Three Plymouth-Canton high schools were placed on lockdown for several hours Thursday afternoon following a report that someone was spotted at one of the schools with a gun, police said.
With the lockdown now over, school district officials confirmed that schools and programs will be closed Friday, Dec. 10.
According to Canton Director of Police Services Chad Baugh, shortly before 2 p.m., a student told a security officer that he saw another student with a weapon. That security officer then contacted authorities and an investigation quickly began.

Plymouth-Canton Educational Park was placed on lockdown as multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the three high schools which make up approximately 6,000 students.
"We've had nothing but cooperation from the children. They've been great. They've been patient with us. That's a good thing. We're just trying to get them out of school safely," Baugh said.

The lockdown caused a delayed school dismissal and parents were notified by the school district to avoid going on campus, as no vehicles will be allowed to enter.
Baugh did not say from which of the three schools the threat was reported from.
"Everyone is safe. There's been no injuries," he added.
According to Baugh, officers have not recovered any weapon.
"We are taking out time and searching their the building methodically," he said.
A little after 5 p.m., school officials started to release students, FOX 2 reported.
Plymouth-Canton Educational Park is the home of three comprehensive high schools on one campus: Canton High School, Plymouth High School and Salem High School.
Following the lockdown, the school district issued the following statement:
All P-CCS schools and programs will be closed tomorrow (Friday, December 10).We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we will follow up with more detailed information later this evening concerning the situation that occurred today at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park.
