Police ID Driver In Fatal Metro Detroit I-94 Hit-And-Crash
The driver told police that he didn't stop because he had been drinking alcohol earlier that night.
YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, MI — Officials have identified the driver in a hit-and-run crash that left a metro Detroit man dead along Interstate 94 in Washtenaw County last month, according to police.
Witnesses called police and reported a 52-year-old Warren man walking naked on the freeway near the Michigan Avenue Bypass in Ypsilanti Township at 2:25 a.m. on May 25, according to police.
While officers were on their way, a Huron Valley Ambulance arrived, but before paramedics could reach the man, a car hit him, according to police.

Paramedics tried to save the man while the car sped away, according to police.
On June 6, police said officials received a phone call from a person who said they knew who the driver was in the crash. The driver, a 20-year-old man from Jackson, told the person that he was involved in a crash in that area that morning, and that he did hit something, but never stopped, police said.

Police interviewed the driver, who told them that he had hit something on the road. He then told police that he didn't stop because he had been drinking alcohol earlier that night.
The suspected vehicle, a 2018 Chevy Malibu, had damage and was impounded for further forensic investigation.
Police were still investigating the crash and plan to turn the case over to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office for potential charges.
