LIVONIA, MI — A popular Wayne County pierogi shop is closing down soon after more than two decades in business.

Lila’s Pierogi, located on Five Mile Road near Inkster Road in Livonia, will close down sometime this spring after 21 years in business.

Co-owner Connie Calimazzo told Hometown Life the decision to close down is largely due to rising costs and shifting customer habits.

"I put egg in all of my dough, so the cost to make (pierogi) is high," Calimazzo told the outlet. "And customers aren’t coming as in much as they used to. It’s more of an after-they-buy-their-grocery kind of thing. So our sales have gone down, our prices have gone up."
