Rock Bar & Grill in Downtown Plymouth Closes Doors

The Rock Bar & Grill in downtown Plymouth is now closed, according to a sign posted at the front entrance of the building.

"We will reopen in February 2013 under new management," the sign read.

The bar was slated to close Feb. 1 after bar owner Kevin Montagano agreed to terms with the City of Plymouth to close the restaurant and seek new ownership in lieu of the city recommending revocation of its liquor license to the state's Liquor Control Commission after numerous liquor-related violations.

The Plymouth City Commission voted unanimously Monday in favor of the agreement after a public hearing about the fate of the bar. 

Under the agreement, the bar would have to find a new owner within 90 days of Monday's public hearing in order to avoid the city proceeding with its liquor license revocation efforts.

If the bar had faced a violation in the time between Monday's hearing and Feb. 1, however, the bar would be forced to close its doors and the city would proceed with efforts to revoke its license.

It is not yet clear what circumstances led to the bar closing its doors before the Feb. 1 date. A message was left Thursday with lawyer Scott MacDonald, whose name was listed on the sign outside the bar.
