Tonda Resource Room Teacher Honored With Extra-Miler Award
Sue Naudi received a standing ovation from her peers after receiving her award on Tuesday night.

A long-time Plymouth-Canton teacher was recognized for her dedication to students during the regular Board of Education meeting Tuesday night.
Sue Naudi, a Tonda Elementary Resource Room Teacher, had her name added to the many recipients of the Mary Beth Carroll Extra Miler Award over the years. The award has become a tradition in the district over the last 25 years, according to Trustee Mark Horvath, who spoke on Naudi's behalf Tuesday.
"From a parent's perspective, because I can't possibly speak from an educator's perspective, the kind of things you do an your ability to touch children one at a time and make them successful is something that no words, no certificate, no award is ever going to meet up for," Horvath said to Naudi. "We do have a great school district and it wouldn't be the same without people like you."
Naudi spent most of her career in Isbister and Tonda Elementary Schools.
"I've had the opportunity to work with many administrators over the years and some amazing teachers," Naudi said tearing up. "And my life wouldn’t be the same without them. A special education teacher's job can be very difficult. And without the support of the general education teachers in the trenches and the paraprofessionals who support those students and us, we wouldn't be able to do it. So this award is as much for them as it is for me."
