Tree Lighting, Hot Chocolate Run and More This Weekend

1. Boulevard Tree Lighting, Red Kettle Kick Off

  • When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: Kellogg Park, downtown Plymouth
  • What: Enjoy the annual Main Street Boulevard Tree Lighting and Plymouth Salvation Army Red Kettle Kick Off on Friday. The first 100 people receive a free gift from the Salvation Army. Bring a new toy or non-perishable food items and be entered to win gift certificates donated by downtown Plymouth merchants. 

2. "Austenland" at The Penn

  • When: Friday, Saturday, 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.; Sunday, 4:45 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Where: Penn Theatre, 760 Penniman Ave., Plymouth
  • What: Obsessed with Pride and Prejudice, a woman travels to a Jane Austen theme park in search for her perfect gentleman. Rated PG-13.

3. Kona Hot Chocolate Run

  • When: Sunday, 7 a.m.
  • Where: Kellogg Park, downtown Plymouth
  • What: The Inaugural" Kona Chocolate Run is a festive race event by the Kona Running Co. Have fun and wear a holiday, chocolate or a super hero themed costume! Celebrate upcoming holidays with Cups of Hot Chocolate, Brownies, Chocolate Chip Cookies and premium Chocolate Fountain Fondues along with music in downtown Plymouth. 

4. Michigan Phil Presents "Highland Pipes"

  • When: Sunday, 2 p.m.
  • Where: First United Methodist Church 45201 N. Terriitorial Road, Plymouth
  • What: The Michigan Philharmonic invites you to "get your Scottish on! "Highland Pipes" features the music of Scotland with Bagpipe soloist fresh off a performance with the Boston Pops. Nancy Tunnicliffe will perform a Bagpipe Concerto by Peter Taussing along with a rousing finale joined by members of the Celtic Pipes & Drums of Birmingham. The beautiful Scottish Symphony by Mendelssohn rounds out the afternoon.
