Trial Set For Canton Woman Charged With Human Trafficking

A Canton woman, part of drug and sex trafficking ring busted in August, will stand trial in Oakland County.

CANTON, MI — A 27-year-old Canton woman will face trial in connection with a sex and drug trafficking ring that was operated in Oakland and Macomb Counties. Jasmin McGinnis is charged with seven felonies for her part in a ring that victimized dozens of people since September 2016.

McGinnis was arrested in August along with three other suspects. Each were bound over for trial in Oakland County Circuit Court following a preliminary examination last month. Charges in the case were brought by Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette.

“The connection between sex trafficking and highly addictive drugs is unfortunately very common,” Schuette said in a statement.
