Herzberg, Powell Lead Primary Race For Vacant Westland MI House Seat
The special election is necessary after former state Rep. Kevin Coleman, D-Westland won a local mayoral race in November's 2023 election.

WESTLAND, MI — Voters in the Westland area will decide the candidates for Michigan's vacant 25th district house seat, which includes Wayne, most of Westland, and some parts of Dearborn Heights and Canton Township.
The special election is necessary after former state Rep. Kevin Coleman, D-Westland won a local mayoral race in November's 2023 election.
The winners will then face off in a special election for the Lansing seat on April 16.

The winner of the special election will serve in Lansing through the remainder of each candidate's term, which goes through the end of this year. In Michigan, state representatives serve two-year terms and earn $71,685 annually.
