• Portage City Council to vote to confirm Matthew Wolfe as Director of Public Safety (wwmt.com) — Portage City Council will vote Tuesday on confirming Assistant Police Chief Matthew Wolfe as the city’s new Director of Public Safety, with an interim appointment planned earlier that afternoon to maintain continuity. Wolfe, a longtime Portage officer and FBI National Academy graduate, would replace outgoing director Nicholas Armold as soon as Wednesday if approved.
   

• Michigan Democrats roll out vaccine bill package as GOP raises concerns (blackchronicle.com) — Portage’s state representative Matt Longjohn is backing a new Democratic vaccine bill package that would require schools and child care providers statewide to report immunization rates and standardize exemption forms. Republicans, led by Rep. Brad Paquette, argue the measures burden families who decline vaccines and could deepen community divisions. Lawmakers from both parties say they want to rebuild trust while keeping families informed.
