Detroit Area Auto Part Plant Plans To Permanently Shut Down

The company said the decision will affect roughly 200 workers.

AUBURN HILLS, MI — Dana Thermal Products, located along Giddings Road in Auburn Hills, will lay off roughly 200 workers as it plans to permanently shut down, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice.

The manufacturing facility is closing due to "unforeseen and immediate reductions in customer orders," Plant Manager Chris Dodge wrote in the letter.

More specifically, the company told Fox 2 Detroit the reduction in orders was largely caused by a low demand for electric vehicles.
