Driver Fled Scene Of Fatal Crash: Deputies

The driver of what Sheriff's Deputies believe is a light-colored Mitsubishi Galant fled the scene of a fatal crash.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A 63-year-old Springfield Township man died early Saturday morning in what the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is calling a fatal hit-and-run crash. Michael Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene after being run over by a 2002 or 2003 light-colored Mitsubishi Galant, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday in Springfield Township, which sits in the northwest corner of Oakland County. Deputies say Bailey was traveling on southbound Ormond Road and driving a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Police believe Bailey lost control of the motorcycle by trying to avoid a deer.

He hit the deer and the motorcycle slid down the road before coming to a stop south of French Lane on Ormond. Bailey was ejected from the motorcycle and lying in the road when police believe the vehicle traveling southbound ran over him. The vehicle fled the scene.
