Ethan Crumbley: 5 Things To Know About Accused Oxford HS Shooter
Ethan Crumbley, 15, faces charges of first-degree murder, terrorism and related gun crimes in the killing of four and wounding of seven.

OXFORD, MI — The school shooting suspect who killed four students and wounded seven others at Oxford High School was identified Wednesday as 15-year-old sophomore Ethan Crumbley, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said at a news conference.
Here are the five things to know about Crumbley:
1. Crumbley used a 9 mm Sig Sauer that his father bought him just four days before the shooting, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said.

Police said they received over 100 911 calls about an active shooter at the high school just before 1 p.m. Parents were alerted through a school alert system, and several parents reported receiving frantic calls and texts from their children, officials said.
Within five minutes after the calls, police arrested Crumbley after he surrendered without firing at officers in a school hallway, officials said. He fired about 15-20 shots, striking 11 people; four were dead as of Wednesday evening.

2. Crumbley posted photos of the gun, and him firing it, in the lead-up to the school shooting, the sheriff added.
Videos were recovered from Crumbley’s cell phone, including "a video made by him the night before the incident wherein he talked about shooting and killing students the next day at Oxford High School. Further, a journal was recovered from Ethan’s backpack also detailing his desire to shoot up a school to include murdering students," The Detroit Free Press reported, citing Oakland County Sheriff Lt. Tim Willis.
An Instagram account with Crumbley’s name, which has since been deleted, had the phrase "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of world. See you tomorrow, Oxford” written in the biography section, according to Fox 2 Detroit.

3. Police are considering charges against Crumbley's parents.
Police swarmed Crumbley's family home; however, McDonald would not comment on what was taken from the home.
However, the Daily Mail reported that police removed multiple long barreled guns from the home in Oxford on Tuesday night.
His parents, James and Jennifer, have hired him an attorney who advised him to not cooperate with police.
4. Crumbley was featured in a local newspaper with a desire to help those in need.
As a fifth grade student at Lakeville Elementary School in 2017, his voice was featured in the Oxford Leader Community Newspaper talking about group project focused on poverty and hunger.
“I see people that are on the streets sometimes that are homeless and hungry, and so I feel like I should take action and help them,” he said.
School officials have flagged Crumbley for “behavior in the classroom that they felt was concerning,” Bouchard said Wednesday.
5. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting
Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe said at a press conference that no motive would be immediately released in the shooting. He did not say whether a motive had been determined.
The sheriff also said Crumbley had no previous run-ins with the department and he wasn’t aware of any disciplinary history at school ahead of the shooting.
Although the sheriff's office said there's no indication Crumbley was bullied, some classmates said he was bullied, according to the Detroit Free Press.
