Explore Ford's Early Days At The Rochester Hills Library

ROCHESTER -- The Rochester Hills Public Library will welcome Author Alan Naldrett to share the story of the very first days of the Ford Motor Company on Thursday, Feb. 21.

Naldrett will share the story of C. Harold Wills, Henry Ford’s very first employee and one of the unsung heroes of the auto world. Wills designed the Model T when he worked as Ford’s right-hand man. Later, he founded his own company to produce the legendary Wills Sainte Claire.

“C. Harold Wills contributed so much to the world of automobiles and subsequently to Michigan history, yet so many people are unaware of his story,” said Naldrett. “I’m excited to share his inventiveness with the Rochester Hills Public Library.”

Naldrett will talk about the little-known days at the beginnings of one of the major Michigan automobile empires, and the man who made some amazing contributions to the industry.

“Our patrons are passionate about Michigan history, and what could be more fitting than diving into the history of such an iconic company,” said Community Relations Specialist Amanda Harrison Keighley. “We’re excited to host Alan Naldrett to talk about a hidden Michigan gem.”

The program is Feb. 21 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room and is open to everyone with an RHPL library card. This program is geared toward adults but all ages are welcome. Please register in advance at rhpl.org.
