With school out and a holiday weekend approaching, many families will soon be planning time away from home for camping trips and other summer vacations.
But while you're planning your trip, don't forget to also make plans to keep your house safe while you're gone.
The city of Rochester recently published the following tips from Rochester Police in its most recent newsletter.
- Put a hold on your mail and newspapers.
- Ask a neighbor to mow the lawn while you're gone (and return the favor when you get back!).
- Consider automatic timing lights and a radio in different rooms to create the appearance of movement.
- Call the Rochester Police Department at 248-651-9621 for a Vacation Safety Check (at least three days notice preferred).
