Man Charged In Deadly Rochester Hills Motel Shooting: Sheriff

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A 21-year-old Cincinnati man has been charged in connection with an Oakland County shooting and crash that police described as "a chaotic incident," according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened on Sept. 1 at the Fairfield Inn on South Rochester Road in Rochester Hills, where a man was shot dead and another person suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Calvin Roger Jones Jr. was charged with assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of felony firearm. He was placed in the Oakland County Jail with a $2 million bond. He faces up to life in prison if convicted on the assault with intent to murder charge.

Officials said three people, including Jones, were involved in a fight in the hotel's parking lot. During the fight, officials said two people were shot, leaving one dead and another injured.

After the shooting, officials said there was a crash on South Boulevard. The crash was connected to the shooting, but there were no injuries, officials said.
