Movies In The Moonlight Returns To Downtown Rochester
Grab a chair or blanket, your favorite snack and the family for these after-dark films downtown.

ROCHESTER, MI — Summer is here and that means the return of one of Downtown Rochester’s seasonal events: Movies in the Moonlight. The series in its 18th year and includes four Saturday nights filled with family fun and entertainment.
“I can’t think of a better way for families to spend their Saturday nights under the stars,” said Jenna O’Dell, events coordinator for the Rochester Downtown Development Authority. “Movies in the Moonlight is a community staple for many local families.”
Here is the 2019 schedule:
- July 13: The Greatest Showman
- July 20: The Grinch (2018)
- July 27: Raiders of the Lost Ark
- Aug. 3: Incredibles 2
Movies in the Moonlight happens in the parking lot at the corner of East Third and Water streets, one block east of Main Street. The featured movies begin at dusk, or just after 9 p.m. and pre-shows start at 8:30 p.m.

Admission is free and organizers recommend arriving early for good seating. The event is BYOC - bring your own chair. Food and drinks will be sold at the event but attendees can also bring their own.
The pre-show lineup includes a presentation from The Striped Circus on July 13, Christmas in July on July 20, Dig for Treasure July 27 and Dress like a Superhero on Aug. 3.
Movies rated PG-13 are edited versions when possible, organizers said, but they still recommend parental guidance.
