NCCA March Madness Men's Basketball: Kansas Ends MSU's Season

Michigan State ends its season with a 20-15 record.

(UPDATED) METRO DETROIT, MI — Michigan State University’s dream of a NCAA basketball championship ended Sunday as top-seeded Kansas knocked the Spartans out of the tournament, 90-70. The Jayhawks’ superb freshman Josh Jackson proved too much to handle, dinging MSU for 23 points.

The Spartans fell behind by 10 points at the 8:02 mark of the second half and never recovered. Nick Ward played well for Michigan State with 13 points, but foul trouble kept him on the bench for much of the final minutes. Miles Bridges led MSU, which finishes the season 20-15, with 20 points.

The Spartans trailed by five at halftime as Bridges battled back from an early injury to pull his team within reach. The freshman start scored 13 points in the first half. Kansas, however, had too many weapons and led by double digits most of the second half.
