The driver of the military truck, a 17-year-old boy from Genesee County, was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries, according to officials.

Matt Wandrie, superintendent of Lapeer Community Schools, said Johnson taught in the district for more than 25 years and "has touched the lives of so many beyond the Turrill School Community."

Wandrie added there will be emotional support staff to provide support for students and staff on hand for the remainder of the week.

"Please keep the family and those who worked closest with Roxann in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," Wandrie said.

The crash was still under investigation.
