Oakland County Votes To Make A Park For Off Road Vehicles

Oakland County Voted To Make A Possible Off-Roading Park In Waterford Township

OAKLAND COUNTY-- More than 300 off-road vehicles were packed into a meeting at the Oakland County parks officials on Wednesday in Waterford Township to garner support for an off-road park where they can drive Jeeps, and other machines.

60-year-old Jim Kiltson, an engineering manager of Davision who through e-mail and Facebook was able to draw a large crowd that was sat outside the county office. The group wants to relay a message that this isn't some unsafe sport or hobby, that the off-roaders are a large group dedicated to having fun, spending money for their activity and emphasis on safety and getting the family involved in off-roading.

The Oakland County Parks and Recreation commission after hearing positive comments from off-roaders, voted 10-0 in support of a preliminary concept to develop a partnership with state park officials.

This new location would be beneficial to the people of the Metro Detroit area, instead of having to drive for hours to Northern Michigan or even out of state, they would be able to go off-roading nearby.
