OU West Center new home to Havenwyck Hospital outpatient services
Move will allow Havenwyck Hospital patients additional access to mental health support and programs

Oakland University has leased approximately 8,000 square feet of space in its West University Center to Havenwyck Hospital so that the hospital can launch Branches Auburn Hills, a Service of Havenwyck Hospital, and expand its ability to offer outpatient step-down care and improve the mental health of more teens and adults from across the state.
“When this idea came to my attention, it seemed like a natural partnership that made sense,” said Ora Hirsch Pescovitz, Oakland University President. “Many of our School of Nursing programs are housed in that building and community engagement is an important pillar of our existence. With our friends from Havenwyck Hospital right across the street needing additional space, and with us having the space to lease, the connection just worked.”
Branches Auburn Hills specializes in patients needing a step-down transition from acute inpatient care or as an alternative to inpatient treatment through a partial hospitalization program (PHP). Havenwyck’s PHP offers short term treatment tailored to the specific needs of the patient and provides more intensive treatment while allowing patients to return home in the evening. PHP patients will attend the program Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In addition, Havenwyck will offer an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) with the goal of stabilization, supportive increased therapy and the development of positive skills. There, they treat depression, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma history, suicidal ideation and self-harm behaviors to name a few.
“We are thrilled to be able to expand our mental health therapy services and resources to better provide for the needs of the community and the entire Metro Detroit region,” said Jaime White, CEO Havenwyck Hospital. “Our team has worked tirelessly to bring a diverse range of mental health therapy programs to this location. We can’t wait to welcome our patients to this new space and provide them with services that empower wellness and inspire hope.”

Oakland University’s West Center opened in the Fall of 2022 when Oakland University bought the former Baker College Auburn Hills location. Since then, it has evolved in usage over time. Today, in addition to the Havenwyck space, the building includes a growing amount of OU’s School of Nursing programming, some School of Education and Human Services programming, and even includes a new practice facility for the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
