Rite Aid Closing Down Oakland County Distribution Center

Rite Aid, one of the nation's largest drugstore chains,​ is planning to close down at least 15 Michigan stores amid it bankruptcy process.

PONTIAC, MI — Rite Aid is closing down its distribution center in Pontiac as it navigates through its bankruptcy process, according to a WARN notice with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.

The Pontiac distribution center is scheduled to close on Aug. 16 and will affect 191 workers, whose roles include warehouse worker, driver, forklift operator and managers, according to the notice.

Rite Aid, one of the nation’s largest drugstore chains, initially said three Michigan stores will close down, before adding 12 more Michigan stores earlier this month. Those stores include:

The closures come after the struggling drugstore chain filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in October, and announced plans to close 150 stores. Since filing for bankruptcy, Rite Aid has said it will close 431 stores.
