Rochester College Begins Search For New President
The college's interim president, Rubel Shelly, will transition to chancellor by next fall.

Rochester College has begun a national search to find a "qualified, experienced and visionary president" for the college before next spring, the school has announced.
In a news release, William Anderson, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the college, said the new president would likely take over leadership of the school in the fall of 2013.
President Rubel Shelly asked the board earlier this year to find his replacement so that he could step away from the presidency in September 2013.

Shelly was named interim president in the spring of 2008, and, at the board’s request, has continued to serve as president during a "challenging period of transition in the college’s history," according to the news release.
“Dr. Shelly’s tenure has not only witnessed a solidifying of the financial footings of Rochester College but, through his leadership, the college has achieved significant academic and enrollment milestones,” Anderson said in the statement.

Under Shelly’s leadership, Rochester College has increased its enrollment from 850 students to just over 1,200 at the start of the 2012-13 academic year. During the same period, the college established a School of Nursing in collaboration with Crittenton Hospital and Medical Center.
When a new president for the college is found, Shelly will assume responsibilities as chancellor of the college, to oversee the transition of leadership, and to return to his roles as teacher-author within the college community.
Persons who wish to be considered for the presidential appointment should submit a letter of interest and complete curriculum vitae to Presidential Search Committee, Rochester College, 800 W. Avon Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48307.
