Rochester Hills Announces 80s Themed 5K Fun Run: Here's What To Know
All proceeds from the event will go to the Brooklands Splash Pad Resource Fund to support shooting victims.
ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — Rochester Hills is hosting its very first ever 80s themed 5K Fun Run at Bloomer Park in September to celebrate the city's 40th birthday.
The "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" run is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 15 at the park. Runners are encouraged to wear leg warmers, neon sweatbands and their favorite 80s themed t-shirts.
There will also live music from DJ Devoe, who will be spinning 80s hits from favorites, such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Wham! and others. The event will go on rain or shine.

Registration is now open at rochesterhills.org/5k. Pricing starts at $30 for adults and $15 for youth under 12. Registration will increase to $35 for adults starting Aug. 16. Groups of four or more will receive a $5 discount per registration at checkout.
Proceeds from this event will go to the Brooklands Splash Pad Resource Fund through the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester to support the victims of the Brooklands Splash Pad tragedy.

"We are so excited to be able to put together this fun, unique way for runners and walkers alike to join together and support our community," Mayor Bryan K Barnett said. "I look forward to grabbing my neon gear to hit the trails for a beautiful run through our city's oldest park."
