Rochester Hills to Host Second Annual Pond Hockey Classic
On Saturday, February 11, residents will show off their hockey skills at the second annual Spencer Park Pond Hockey Classic.
From City of Rochester Hills: On Saturday, February 11, residents will grab their sticks and show off their hockey skills at the second annual Spencer Park Pond Hockey Classic. The Classic promises to be a fun and friendly three on three outdoor hockey tournament for non-professionals, taking place at Spencer Park from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. This adult hockey competition will feature neighbors rivaling one another for a chance to win bragging rights and local glory.
Teams consist of 5 players who compete without goalies in a 3 on 3, round robin format followed by a bracket championship. There is also the Bender Bowl playoff for the (not so hot) teams in each division. A minimum of 3 games are guaranteed and prizes will be awarded to the top two teams and the winner of the Bender Bowl.
Prizes include gift cards donated by Perani’s Hockey World! There will also be an accuracy shoot out, chuck-a-puck event and autographed puck raffle open to everyone in attendance. Sponsors include Premier Sponsor Perani’s Hockey World, Howie’s Hockey Tape, NiceRink and the Troy Sports Center.

Registration is limited to 20 teams so register fast! Cost is only $75 per team. Registration forms can be found at Spencer Park or online. Registration is fully refundable if the Tournament is cancelled on both dates due to weather. Spencer Park is located at, 3701 John R Rd. Rochester Hills 48307. All participants must be of eighteen years or older. Teams must consist of no more than five players. The tournament is to be run through a combination of both round-robin and bracket styles. Each team will have the opportunity to play a minimum of three games. Please no professionals or semi-professionals. Registry is limited to twenty teams. It will be held February 11th, 2017 weather permitting, with a make up date onFebruary 18th. The registration form, as well as more information, can be found at the Spencer Park page.
