Rochester Hills Hosting Community Baseball Game For Kids

Kids 8-14 can play ball with the mayor, community members and fellow youth this summer. Here are the details.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI–Rochester Hills, it's time to play ball. Mayor Bryan K. Barnett has partnered with Major League Baseball and the Rochester Avon Recreation Authority (RARA) to host a free Play Ball event. It's set for June 19 at 7 p.m. at Earl E. Borden Park located at 1400 E Hamlin Rd, Rochester Hills.

At this event, boys and girls ages 8-14 will have the chance to grab their mitts and show off their pitching, hitting, and running abilities. These activities are focused on exposing children to baseball and softball while providing a fun opportunity to remain active throughout the summer. There is no registration fee and everyone will have the opportunity to participate.

“This tradition is a great opportunity to introduce some of our youngest residents to this fun sport,” said Mayor Bryan K. Barnett. “We look forward to getting the next generation excited about America’s pastime and find future Detroit Tigers.”

This event is the first part of the larger four part Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit, and Run competition series. The first level is a local event.

All athletes must participate in a local competition in order to advance to the higher levels. The 1st Place All-Around, Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions in each division age group advance to the Sectional Competition.

To sign up for this event, young athletes can register at www.rochesterhills.org/playball. This event is free and open to the public. Walks ins interested in playing are also welcome.
