Rochester Hills Museum Celebrates Rochester's Founder's Day
The arrival of James Graham with his sons on March 17, 1817 was the beginning of the community now known as Rochester.

ROCHESTER, MI — Founder's Day is coming up in Rochester and the community will celebrate in a special way.
The Rochester Historical Commission will celebrate the day that commemorates the arrival of James Graham with his sons on March 17, 1817 to the area we now known as Rochester. Local historians said they were pioneer settlers who established Rochester as the first settlement in Oakland County.
The Rochester Historical Commission celebration will take place at 2 p.m. March 15 in the Calf Barn at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.

Also at the event, author and historian Kenneth Schramm will be discussing, “A ride on the Detroit United Railway (DUR) interurban through Rochester." The full history of the DUR from development, construction and operation from the 1890’s through its demise in the 1930’s will be explained.
There will also be traditional Irish dances performed by the Shannon Irish Dance Academy of Rochester Hills.
