Rochester Hills Woman Arrested For Check Fraud
Police believe the woman tried to cash checks at a Orion Township credit union.
ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A 36-year-old Rochester Hills woman was arrested for allegedly stealing checks from her parents. Police reports said she tried to cash the checks at an Orion Township credit union on May 23.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a teller at the Genisys Credit Union on S. Lapeer Road, according to an Oakland Press report. The clerk told police a check looked suspicious and the person attempting to cash it refused to come in and speak with the manager as requested.
A subsequent investigation showed the woman had allegedly stolen several personal checks from her parents’ home in Rochester Hills, according to deputies. A report for the stolen checks had been filed at the Rochester Hills substation earlier that day. The woman was arrested and lodged in the Oakland County Jail, the newspaper reported.
