Rochester Introduces New Crowdfunding Event Spotlighting Youth
Rochester is looking for local kids' best ideas to enrich the community. Here are the details.

ROCHESTER, MI — A new program in Rochester will raise money for the community and put local kids’ ideas in the spotlight.
The Rochester Downtown Development Authority is debuting the new program, Mics & Mac, a crowdfunding event designed to empower local kids ages 10-18 and then enrich the Rochester community with their creative ideas.
From art, events, placemaking and more, all ideas are welcome and encouraged, organizers said.

Kids can submit ideas online at downtownrochestermi.com until Monday, July 8.
Ten ideas will be selected and invited to give a five minute pitch presentation at the Mics & Mac Event on Wednesday, Aug. 7. The winning pitch will receive $1,000 to make bring their idea to life.

Mics & Mac will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug.7 at the Rochester Community House. Tickets are $10 and include dinner (mac and cheese, of course), dessert and a vote for their favorite pitch.
Tickets are available online at downtownrochestermi.com or at the Rochester DDA Office, 308 ½ Main Street.
Mics & Mac is part of The Front Porch Project, a new initiative by the Rochester DDA. The goal of The Front Porch Project is to improve the quality of life for area residents, focusing on wellness, community, people and place.
